CAPTAINS
1st Side Captain: Danielle Miano
Raised by Catholic Joseph Miano and Lutheran Robin Miano, Danielle Meow showed an affinity for sportsin’ as a pre-pubescent cub. The song Born in the USA was actually inspired by Danielle’s birth. At the ripe age of 18, Danielle journeyed to Western New York’s inner thigh, SUNY Fredonia. Here she discovered the glory of the oval ball and galloped through her next four years as a multi-time MVP, captain, social chair, vice president, and general kitchen sink of the Fredonia Blackhorse DII Rugby Club, New York State Champs 2005. Once out of the barn, this kitten traveled east to pursue her dreams as a show poodle and technology industry professional. She joined BWRFC in the Fall of 2007. In her years with Boston Women’s, she’s served many roles including captain, social chair, and fullback. Danielle also travels the country, beating up ruggers 14 minutes at a time, playing for both the nationally ranked Boston Belles 7s Rugby team and the Northeast Rugby Union Regional 7s side. When not prancing around the pitch, Danielle enjoys general physical challenges such as break dancing, buffalo wing eating, rock climbing and slow pitch softball. Hidden talent: navigating the treacherous floors of the Hot Lava Game. Religious views: the only boss she listens to is Bruce Springsteen. Life dream: to one day compete for an Olympic Gold Medal in honor of the United States of America and to some day see the Buffalo Bills win a Superbowl.
2nd Side Captain: Cristin Frederick
Cristin began her rugby career in 1999 with Boston College Women’s Rugby Club. After four years at flyhalf for BC, where she served as captain her final two years, Cristin joined BWRFC in 2003. Here, she continued as a flyhalf while dabbling in winging. In her second year of play, Cristin was elected Backs Captain. Having served various roles since then, Cristin is currently the 2nd Side Captain. When not on the pitch, Cristin has her nose to the judicial grind stone as a contracts attorney.
